Have you seen Zome yet?
I know this group shall be interested.

zometool.com/

This is a tool that will help you to unfold the mysteries of the ordering of space.

What can be built and studied with Zome?

Platonic and Archimedean solids, Kepler-Poinsot solids, prisms, antiprisms, stellation, truncation, tiling of 2 and 3 dimensional space, recursive and fractal structures, geodesic domes, pyramids,
shadows of shapes in higher dimensions- hypercube, the 120-cell,etc.,
Bucky balls and nanotubes, DNA, Viruses, and a lot more.

You can dip shapes into a bucket of bubles and get cube and dodecahedron shaped bubles!

The ball is shape coded and you plug rods into the proper holes. The rods scale by the golden ratio and also measure by sqrt2, sqrt3, and other irrational lengths that frequently arise in measurements of polyhedra.

you can see photos of models here-

some of the most advanced constructions can be seen here-
